Considering getting rid of your home phone
and only having a cell phone?

    Think of this:
  • What happens if you have an emergency and for whatever reason you cannot speak? But you can dial 911. How will they find you? GPS gets close but maybe not close enough and precious minutes may be wasted trying to find where you are! When you use a home phone the emergency responders know EXACTLY where the phone is connected and can find you quickly and accurately.
  • What happens when the nearest cell tower's power fails? Your cell phone is DEAD or may have problems communicating with a more distant tower! Yes, it does happen. Home (landline) phones are powered at the phone company and as long as you have a connection with the central phone office you can use your home phone. But note: You need to have a home phone that does NOT plug into an electrical outlet to use when the power fails. Phones (including those with wireless handsets) that plug into an electical outlet will NOT work when the power fails.
  • Everyone knows how unreliable cell phones are. They are the only technology that fails to work as designed a lot of the time. The most used phrase on cell phones is "can you hear me now?" and there is a reason for that. You already have difficulties using cell phones on a regular basis even when everything is working. Why take a chance with such an unreliable phone when your life or serious injury may be at issue (unless using a cell phone is the ONLY possible way to call - such as in a car)?

    ---------------------------------------------

If you received the message "Not Found" and are absolutely sure the area code/prefix combination shown above is part of a valid phone number (double-check to be sure you entered it correctly) please write us. Be sure to include the above area code/prefix. BUT FIRST, IF YOU GOT THE PHONE NUMBER ON A CALLER ID UNIT, READ THIS: Even though your caller ID unit may display a phone number, that does NOT mean that the area code and prefix combination actually exists. Sometimes telemarketers and others use FAKE information. Therefore that is probably why the area code and prefix combination you are looking for was "not found" on our database. However, if you know the above area code and prefix DOES exist (for example, you KNOW there is a phone that has this number assigned to it) and we do not have the prefix listed, PLEASE let us know. Thank you. Send us an email here

Before writing, make SURE you know what an Area Code and Prefix are. If a phone number is (AAA) PPP-NNNN, the AAA part is the Area Code and the PPP part is the Prefix. This is very important to properly use our system. Please don't tell us that you cannot find the AAA part because if it exists we have a link to its search page at http://www.thedirectory.org/pref/.

IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT SEND US AN EMAIL TELLING US THAT A PARTICULAR "AREA CODE" IS NOT LISTED. ALL AREA CODES ARE LISTED. IF YOU DID NOT FIND IT THEN YOU HAVE NOT DONE SOMETHING RIGHT! ALL AREA CODES ARE LISTED HERE. If you don't see it there it does not exist (or is a new area code activated in the past 30 days - do NOT email us to tell us, we know about it and it will be added soon). AGAIN, DO NOT SEND US EMAIL ABOUT MISSING AREA CODES, JUST MISSING PREFIXES "WITHIN A PARTICULAR AREA CODE." Thank you.
